King's Book Club

On World Book Day 2012(1st March), The King's School Library will be launching The King's Book Club, open to anyone in years 7, 8 and 9. We can't tell you any more now, but if you've got any ideas for the club, or would like to be involved, speak to a member of the Library Team.

We've also been busy creating a World Book Day display, so why not pop into the Library and let us know what you think!

Picture Book Competition

ReadingZone has launched a World Book Day competition for children and young people aged 4 -18 to make a picture book, judged by Jacqueline Wilson’s illustrator, Nick Sharratt. They want a brilliant story, told in words and pictures in up to 24 pages! You can see tips, guidelines and a template at www.ReadingZone.com.

There are some fantastic prizes, including the chance to meet a fabulous author at school, sets of books for the school library, and you’ll receive printed copies of your own picture book!
You don’t have to be brilliant at writing or a fantastic artist to make a great picture book, anyone can have a go – you just need an idea or character to start with.

The competition launched in January 2012 and we hope that as many schools and young people as possible will be able to make picture books during World Book Day. The competition will close on 14th April and the winners will be announced on www.ReadingZone.com in May 2012.

King's Cool Reads

To celebrate World Book Day this year many Forms filled in a King's Cool Reads recommendation slip to tell their friends about a book that they have particularly enjoyed. These are now on display in the Library. Come and have a look and see if you can find yours!

The results have been put together in a folder which is available in the Library. So next time you're stuck for something to read have a flick through the folder and get some inspiration from your friends.
